Facebook Live streaming plus every other platform
Facebook Live puts your broadcast where the world's largest social audience already scrolls — pages, groups and profiles. This guide shows how to stream to Facebook Live with a persistent stream key, the encoder settings Facebook actually wants, and how to simulcast to Facebook alongside YouTube, Twitch and more.
Facebook prefers a conservative feed — around 4,000 kbps at 1080p30. StreamRove's profiles handle that quirk so your other platforms don't pay for it.
Why Facebook Live belongs in your destination mix
Your audience is already there
Churches, local news, community organizations and brands often find their most engaged live viewers on Facebook — people who'd never open Twitch.
Native shares do the marketing
A Facebook Live gets shared into feeds, groups and Messenger while it's happening. No other platform's live video travels socially like this.
Set the key once, stream forever
Facebook's persistent stream key means you configure StreamRove once. Every future broadcast reaches your page without touching settings again.
Different platform, different settings — handled
Facebook's 4,000 kbps / 30fps preference clashes with Twitch's 60fps culture. Smart Output Profiles resolve the conflict in the cloud instead of forcing a lowest common denominator.

How to stream to Facebook Live via RTMP
- 1
Get your persistent stream key
On Facebook, open Live Producer (facebook.com/live/producer), choose 'Streaming software', and copy the persistent stream key for your page.
- 2
Add Facebook in StreamRove
Pick the Facebook preset when adding a channel and paste the key. It's stored encrypted and reused for every broadcast.
- 3
Add your other platforms
Connect YouTube/Twitch with OAuth or paste other keys — Facebook happily coexists with all of them.
- 4
Go live and post context
Start your encoder; once Facebook shows the preview, add a title and description in Live Producer (or let your scheduled post carry it) and go live to your page.
Frequently asked questions
How do I stream to Facebook Live with OBS or an encoder?
Use Facebook Live Producer to get your RTMPS server URL and persistent stream key, then either paste them straight into your encoder — or better, into StreamRove's Facebook preset, so the same encoder feed also reaches your other platforms simultaneously.
What are the best settings for Facebook Live?
Facebook recommends up to 1080p at 30fps, around 4,000 kbps video (H.264, CBR, 2-second keyframes) and 128 kbps AAC audio. StreamRove's Facebook output profile encodes these recommendations, and the combined profile reconciles them with your other destinations.
Can I stream to a Facebook group or profile, not just a page?
Yes — Live Producer lets you choose where the broadcast posts: your page, a group you manage, or your profile. The stream key you use in StreamRove carries whichever target you configured.
Why does Facebook Live look softer than my Twitch stream?
Facebook transcodes aggressively and prefers 30fps input; pushing 60fps or very high bitrates can actually look worse after their processing. StreamRove works out the profile Facebook prefers and shows you what to set in your encoder, which produces the cleanest result.
How long can a Facebook Live broadcast run?
Up to 8 hours per continuous broadcast when using streaming software. For all-day events, plan a brief restart — StreamRove's backup stream can cover the gap with a holding screen so your page never appears offline.
What is the Facebook Live RTMPS server URL?
rtmps://live-api-s.facebook.com:443/rtmp/. Facebook only accepts RTMPS, the encrypted form of RTMP on port 443, so a plain rtmp:// address or port 1935 will not connect. In OBS pick Facebook Live as the service, or Custom with this URL, and paste the stream key from Live Producer.
Where do I find my Facebook stream key?
In Live Producer (facebook.com/live/producer): choose Streaming software and the stream key is shown under the server URL. Turn on the persistent stream key so the same key works for every broadcast; without it Facebook issues a new key each time and the old one stops working.
